Most local businesses approach video the same way: post something, see what happens, repeat. A year later they've got 50 clips, a few thousand views, and zero clients to show for it.

The problem isn't effort. It's that there was never an order.

There's a specific three-video sequence every local service business should publish before anything else. Each one has a job, and each one makes the next one work harder.

Video 1 — The Problem Video

This video is not about you. It's about what your customer is going through before they ever think about hiring someone.

You name their situation out loud. The frustration, the confusion, the thing they've been putting off. Done well, the right viewer feels like you've been reading their mind — and that feeling is the beginning of trust.

Most businesses skip straight past this because talking about the problem feels counterintuitive. But if a viewer doesn't believe you understand their problem, nothing else you say lands.

Video 2 — The Authority Video

This is where you earn the right to be heard. Not a credentials dump. Not "we've been in business 15 years."

Instead: a specific belief you hold about how this problem actually gets solved — and why most people get it wrong. This is where your point of view shows up. It's what separates you from every competitor who sounds exactly the same.

When a viewer hears a clear, confident point of view, they think: this person actually knows something. That's authority.

Video 3 — The Path Video

Now — and only now — you show what working with you looks like. Not a hard sell. A walkthrough of the first step, so the viewer knows exactly what to expect if they reach out.

People don't stall because they don't want the result. They stall because they don't know what happens next. The Path video removes that friction.

Why the order matters

Most businesses do this backwards. They lead with the offer (Path), maybe sprinkle in credentials (Authority), and never address the customer's actual fear (Problem).

The result is content that's all about the business and nothing about the customer — and it converts no one.

Run it in the right order — Problem, then Authority, then Path — and by the time a viewer reaches your offer, they already trust you. Because you proved you understood them before you ever asked for anything.

What comes after the first three

Once these three are live and working, everything else gets easier. Your ongoing content has a foundation to build on. Your ads have a warm audience to retarget. Your sales conversations start further along because the video already did the trust-building.

But it all starts with three videos, in order.
